About

I was twelve when Wim Wenders' Paris, Texas astonished me — the silence, the space, and the emotion conveyed by a perfect coherence of light, colour and composition. It was the first time a film made me cry.

Tamás Méder is a Transylvanian cinematographer based in London and Berlin, working internationally. A graduate of the London Film School, he has shot narrative and commercial work from Los Angeles to China.

He has shot two features: Boy in the Corner, streaming on Amazon Prime, and Rooted Out, which premiered at Raindance this year. His short films have premiered at the major festivals: PRAEIS in the La Cinef selection at Cannes, Scorched Earth at Locarno, The Bull at PÖFF, and Summer Shade and Better at the BFI London Film Festival. Summer Shade went on to win the BSC Short Film Cinematography Award in 2020 and screened in competition at Camerimage.

In commercials and music videos, Joanna Wang's I Only Care About You was nominated for a Golden Melody Award, and Can We Talk screened at Berlin Commercial and Ciclope.

Tamás completed a BSC mentorship under Oliver Curtis BSC, was selected for Berlinale Talents 2024, and is a member of the European Film Academy.
